Claude Ezaki (絵崎 蔵人 Kurōdo Ezaki) was the owner of Renkin Island who was a wealthy physicist. However, he eventually took interest in alchemy and spent the rest of his life on the island trying to create the Philosopher's Stone. He had his own special mansion built based on the principles of alchemy. This is in that house where the Alchemy Murder Case takes place.
It is said he went missing at the peak of his research. As such, he was suspected to still be alive and was suspected of being the culprit behind the murders. However, after a police investigation following the case, his corpse was eventually found in the basement of the building. He had died from illness all along.
