Novel to anime differences[]
- Kazue Kenmochi, Ichiro Nakamura, Akemi Misato, and Yuu Iijima do not appear. Therefore, Otsuki is in charge of acting to expose the criminal.
- Changed the story of how Kindaichi and his friends got on the ship.
- Yu Tokihara and Akira Yoshida appear as anime original characters.
- Destination changed from Ogasawara Islands to Okinawa.
- Wakaoji's suicide note is found on the deck of the ship, not in his room. Also, the person reading the suicide note written in Morse code was changed from Otsuki to Yoshida.
- Takamori's murder scene was cut. Also, the camouflage logbook was removed and cigars were added instead.
- Kenmochi looks at the doneness of the toast and answers the exact time.
- The scene where Kindaichi asks for hot milk for the second time and Yoko warms it up in the microwave in her room is cut.
- Added a depiction of the ship drifting ashore on an uninhabited island and returning from there. Akai is killed in the process.
- Yoko didn't run away from home at the time of the Oriental accident, and there is a scene where she trembles with sadness and anger while holding a portrait of her father in the house where she is being harassed.
- The logbook scene was cut. Along with that, Yoko learned the truth when she and Kano drank at a bar. She hid the fact that she was the daughter of Captain Kajima.
