Manga to Anime Differences[]
- Since there is a very long gap between the first season of the anime, there is a Takato explanatory line from Kindaichi for the viewers. Unlike the main story of the manga, Kindaichi does not receive the list and depart, so a box containing a marionette is sent to Akechi, and a crime guide map is sent to Kindaichi as a murder notice.
- Although no footage from the first season of the anime is cited, the Hell Puppet Master's costume is the same as the one that appeared in the first season's Magical Express Murder Case.
- Kindaichi has been with Miyuki and Sota from the beginning.
- When Moroi is murdered in the opening scene, the group meets Akao, Kawakami, and everyone except the background students.
- Members of the bullying group gather at the cram school on the night immediately after Moroi's murder (just before the training camp).
- A scene of Kaido and her friends' secret talk has been added. At that time, only the silhouette is shown.
- Kawakami's name was changed from Tomoka to Yuko.
- The scene where Kindaichi talks to the bus guide was cut. Accordingly, the location where Enami talks to Kindaichi has been changed to the entrance to the Sea of Trees.
- In the original manga, Hajime secretly brought his cell phone with him and had Miyuki do the same, ensuring a way to contact her, but in the anime, his cell phone is also confiscated. Instead, Akechi prepared a mobile phone for communication, and secretly handed it over to Hajime and Miyuki.
- The scene where Hajime mistakes the English and ancient Japanese textbooks is cut.
- Takato takes off his rubber mask indoors, not outside. There was a twisted marionette in the room.
- The stuffs that Kindaichi brought were changed to erotic books.
- Similar to the drama version, depictions that clearly showed that Ujiie was the culprit were cut out, making it difficult for viewers to understand who the culprit was.
- Sun Villa members' training camp clothes have been changed to red.
- Kindaichi's first autopsy was explained only through dialogue.
- In the scene where Kindaichi talks to Sota, a scene where the top 10 students in each subject in the exam are announced on the bulletin board has been added. This hints that the content of Mitate is not only ``the content of the class that was being held at the time the victims disappeared,'' but also the content of the subjects that the victims were good at until they lost to Aino.
- Changed the order in which Kindaichi speaks to Sun Villa members. Also, he does not interrogate Akao, and Kindaichi's lines in the interrogation scene are uttered when he directly visits Akao's room.
- In the scene where Miyuki notices the unnaturalness of the locker, Ujiie and Akechi do not appear, and the scene of the attempted attack is completely cut. Miyuki continues to send her information to Kindaichi via email.
- The scene where Hajime and Superintendent Akechi communicate about what happened at the training camp was changed to a scene where Miyuki sends an email with a photo that could be used for deduction.
- The scene where the bus passes through the tunnel and turns back is cut.
- The instructor who comes with him to the locker where Konoe was killed is changed to Itsukushima Sensei.
- Aino was a child born to Ujiie before he started his current family.
- Just like the drama version, the scenes of direct bullying towards Hama and Aino are depicted (the contents of a trash can being poured on them, textbooks being torn up, etc.).
- One of the leaders of the bullying group was changed to Kujiraki.
- When Hama questioned him after Aino's incident, she changed the bullying group member to Kujiraki, saying, ``You did it, right?''
- In the scene where Kindaichi accuses Akao of being Takato, his anger is more emphasized than in the original.
- The person Takato tries to kill with a poisonous rose is Hama at first, and Ujiie is then stabbed by the rose to protect him, leading to the original story's development. (For some reason, Ujiie-sensei smiled at that.)
- Takato's behavior after the mystery is solved has changed significantly. The range of fire escape magic has been changed to extend the flames to the entire Sun Manor instead of just the area around the characters. The scene where Takato and Kindaichi directly confront each other is cut, but instead he hits Kindaichi in the face with his glove and leaves (in Europe and America, throwing a glove or hitting an opponent in the face with a glove means a challenge to a duel).
