Kanjiro Kira (吉良 勘治郎 (きら かんじろう) Kira Kanjirō) is a painter and one of the suspects in Murder by Gentleman Thief. He has a deep hatred towards his rival Gozo Gamo as he once stole his painting model fifteen years prior and doesn't believe that his paintings are made by him.

At first, he's shown to be an obnoxious drunken old man whose constant rumbling and insult towards Gozo Gamo annoys other guests. According to Gozo Gamo's butler Goro Komiyama, he used to be a rival of his master but recently he hasn't produce anything and just keep on drinking alcohol.
He later reveal his reason for why he hates Gamo so much, fifteen years prior to the case, he stole his painting model and won an award, thus making his debut in the art world and he believes with Gamo's mediocre painting skill, his downfall is only a matter of time but five years later, his art style completely change and he never believes that Gamo could make that painting and it must be painted by someone else.
He also exceptionally knowledgeable when it comes to the business world, he stated that no one would've perform well without connections, and most people who won an award is usually the student of a famous painter.
Despite his obnoxious behaviour while drunk, he can be less sceptic and knows the painting drawn by Nobuhiko Izumi has the power to get rid all of the bad elements surrounding it.

- The name Kanjiro means "intuition, hunch, perception" (勘) (kan), "cure" (治) (chi/ji) and "son" (郎) (ro).
- Kanjiro's surname Kira means "luck/good luck, fortune, joy, congratulations" (吉) (ki) and "" (良) (ra).
