Kozo Washio is an inspector of Akita Prefectural Police in charge of the Yukikage Village Murder Case.

At first, he was not happy about Hajime intervening in the investigation, but as the investigation progressed, he realized that he was no ordinary person. In the anime, the setting that he is an acquaintance of Inspector Kenmochi was added, and Kenmochi told him about his achievements.
