Manga to Anime Differences[]
- This is Takashi Senke's only appearance in the anime adaptation.
- The prologue was changed.
- In the manga, Hajime, Miyuki, Senke and Yao conversed on the street, while in the anime they were talking in the train.
- The part where Miyuki suggested them go out for a walk was changed from the end to the beginning of the case.
- As a result, Saeko did not appear in the anime. However, a dog named DeCaprio was added in the anime.
- Mushroom-related part was mostly deleted. Therefore, the part where Yao's house got burned was changed.
- In the anime, scratches of animal were found in the house, which did not happen in the manga.
- A character exclusive to the anime, Kiyoshi Towada, was added.
- Possibly because of this, some lines said by different characters and new scenes were added in the anime.
- No magic circle was present inside the building in the anime.
- Some of the university students had different personalities compared to the manga.
- Changed the ages of Ikuto Igarashi, Tomoko Ninomiya and Umeo Momota in the anime.
- Changed the person informing what Cerberus was from Igarashi to Momota.
- Changed the person who screamed at Sando's body from Momota to Towada.
- Ninomiya's dog was named Yuji in the anime, while in the manga its name was Yuta.
- The dog peed at the back of Hajime's shirt in the manga, while in the anime it peed at the front.
- The scene where Yorozuya put an ear close to a wall in a flashback was removed.
- Changed the time when Hajime said 'in the name of my grandfather' in the anime.
- The parts where Hajime and others recalled the three cases and checked out Yorozuya's belongings were changed.
- Added a scene where Momota tried to escape from the abandonded building after he screamed.
- The part where Hajime jumped out of the building and confronted the dogs was deleted in the anime.
- Inspector Kenmochi and Tadano did not appear in the anime.
- The aftermath of the case was narrated by Yao in the manga, but it was changed to Hajime in the anime.
- In the manga, Fumi moved to Hajime's house because her father went on an adventure. This part was moved to the end of Black Butterfly of Death Murder Case in the anime.
- The epilogue of the case in the anime was changed to Yao adopting DeCaprio.
