Shigeru Kitsukawa (橘川 茂 ) is Miyuki's cousin and a university student. He's one of the participant of the tour of Broken Heart Lake Resort, but due to scheduling conflict with many exams at his university, he convinces Miyuki to go on his behalf.

Miyuki describes him as an aggressive person and want to profit only for himself, and is not very liked because of the sexual harassment of touching her buttocks. His character has some similarities with Kindaichi, often sexually harassing Miyuki.
Despite his crude attitude, Miyuki's mother greeted him with a good and nice manner, implying he's maybe well liked with Miyuki's other family members.

Since the schedule overlaps with the university's supplementary exams, he can't go on the Broken Heart Lake tour, so he visits his cousin Miyuki to ask him to replace him "with a man", but he is about to be refused, but Hajime, who was listening to the story, accepts it. However, due to Hajime and Miyuki's bumbling, the substitutes are easily found out.
In fact, he is the true identity of Tono's corpse in the case, and after the tour participants arrive at the resort, he responds to a phone call from Tono and promises to meet at a designated place, but he goes to call for help by boat. He is murdered by Tono, who pretends to leave Broken Heart Lake for a while.
Since Jason had crushed the victim's face, he was dressed in Tono's clothes and had his face shredded.
In the original, it was only mentioned in one explanation, but in the anime and drama versions, the scene of being killed by Tono is clearly depicted. In the anime, he was killed during sunrise (morning or noon), but in the drama he is killed at night. His greatest tragedy is that, even though he was Miyuki's cousin, he did not make Miyuki feel any grief over his death.
Regarding the content of Tono's invitation to Kitsukawa, Hajime speculated that "he told a lie that he had prepared gifts for those who could not come". A person who achieved a feat in a sense, "Even those who don't appear on the stage of the incident are killed."
The reason why all the victims except Kobayashi had their faces smashed is because if only Kikkawa's face was smashed, he would stand out, and there was a risk that he would notice the trick after switching places.
