Shimon Madarame was a butterfly researcher and one of the victims in Black Butterfly of Death Murder Case.

Shimon is mostly depicted as a serious man that rarely expresses other emotions. When he does make a smile, he always have a sinister and cunning aura. He's a butterfly researcher and enthusiast, he's interested in butterfly so much to the point he decorates his entire house walls with framed butterflies.
He is a tremendous sadist. He is a crazy butterfly maniac and loves to play butterflies. He also seems to be a double-edged swordsman, so it doesn't matter if the opponent is a man. According to Onodera, he is as knowledgeable about butterflies as a scholar.
Because he always does terrible things to Midori, his daughters hate him more than hate him. He was the third to die, and met a ghastly end when his left arm was cut off with a machete.
Furthermore, in response to the fact that his two daughters were killed, he made a statement that convinced him that even his daughters were his own collection, "It has become an eternal thing in the garden of the mansion." Even Professor Yamano, who admires him, was drawn away.

Shimon and Yamano has a seemingly good relations. Their relationship is challenged when Yamano shows his condolences to Shimon about Ruri's death, when Shimon says to Yamano that one of his precious collection is dead, which slightly disturbs Yamano.
