Shintaro Nagareyama is a novelist who writes novels about ruins. He mistook Miyuki and Kenmochi for being related. In the drama version, he is a cameraman, but according to Nekoma, "He specializes in taking pictures of corpses," and he took pictures of the corpses of the two gods with a happy face.

Nagareyama is shown to be a friendly person to both Miyuki and Kenmochi. As a fellow ruin enthusiast, he likes to write novels that has the main setting of ruins. He is also a wine lover and his favorite is one imported from Romania called "Sangele lui Dracului".
Because he's on the second floor during the murder of Asaka Kaitani, he's initially accused of being the killer by Aoko Minato, who's also playing the role of detective like Kindaichi, much to his disdain.
