Yayoi Muranishi (村西 弥生 (むらにし やよい) Muranishi Yayoi) was the housekeeper of Munakata Family who was hired twenty years ago by Shiro Munakata, but quickly became infatuated with him. She then became pregnant after her affair with Shiro, which caused Kyoko Munakata, Shiro's wife, to get upset and start to attack her. She accidentally killed Kyoko, but Shiro covered the murder. She then lived with Shiro while assuming Kyoko's identity, though under a veil. After her husband died in a landslide, she found out his two assistants were the cause of his death, and sought revenge on them by killing them. She is found out by Kindaichi, and tries to commit suicide, but is struck by lightning and loses her memory. She is revealed to be Satsuki Munakata's real mother who takes care of her and decides to spend the last two months with her mother before Yayoi died of illness, but she was never charged for her murders.
